To run virsh commands without sudo

To run virsh commands without sudo:

Live caption in google chrome

Helps to see subtitle/live caption for any audio/video played in google-chrome.

Stop kernel flooding your console with warning message:

Creating bootable USB drive for fedora installation

livecd-iso-to-disk is the command used to write the image.

You need to install livecd-iso-to-mediums .

Below /dev/sdX -> maybe sda or sdb . check /proc/partitions & verify the disk. 

Note complete dataloss of the usb disk. Take necessary backup if required.

$ sudo livecd-iso-to-disk --format --reset-mbr /tmp/Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-34-1.2.iso  /dev/sdX

How many digits in git SHA to identify a commit?

 

How many digits in a git SHA makes it to identify the commit? 

7 digits are the Git default for a short SHA, so that's fine for most projects. 

For  ~30k commits, 8 or 10 digits should be perfectly fine.

Disabling selinux from kernel command line

 

Disable selinux from kernel command line:

Add selinux=0 as part of the kernel command line. This should disable selinux temporarily
which should in turn help booting the system. 

libvirt issue - cannot undefine domain with nvram

Problem: 

virsh -c qemu:///system undefine <domain name> 

error: Failed to undefine domain <domain name>

error: Requested operation is not valid: cannot undefine domain with nvram

Solution:

$ virsh -c qemu:///system undefine --nvram <domain name> 

Domain <domain name> has been undefined

Cleaning up libvirt images

 

 

Running out of storage in / 

 

I was using libvirt + vm images and it is filling up /var/lib/libvirt/images/.

 

So to delete the vm & its corresponding image:

(You are going to delete the *data* , take backup if required)

 # virsh list --all 

# virsh undefine <domain  name>  --remove-all-storage
